Paris Souvenirs...Buy Made in France

Bonjour mes belles,

On our recent holiday to New Zealand, we were happy to see that a lot of the souvenirs on offer, were made in New Zealand and there were many unusual items made by local artists.

Last night there was a programme on French television about Paris and the souvenirs on offer.

Many of the shops stock souvenirs that are made in China and one owner admitted that he did not have any items in his shop that were made in France.

Also featured on the programme, were a couple of fabulous shops that I thought that I would share with you, should you ever be in Paris and looking for some souvenirs to take home with you.

One is Paris Rendez Vous, which  is a beautiful and airy shop located on the ground floor of the City Hall of Paris.

This  shop sells official souvenirs of the city of Paris. There are  more than 200 products which feature a Paris image and all are poroudly made in France.

The other shop is called Passion France.

These are gift shops which highlight France and its fabulous traditions. All products sold are made in France and you will find a variety of unique and well made items that represent France and the french way of life.

There are four shops in Paris : two in the Galeries Lafayette department stores (Haussmann and Montparnasse) ; another in 1st arrondissement near the Louvre, rue de l’Echelle, and the last one in 17th arrondissement, between the Arc de Triomphe and Porte Maillot, on the avenue de la Grande armée.

The snow globes make for a fabulous gift to take home and the snow lasts for a lot longer than in the snow globes that are made in China. The reason being that the owner spent a very long time searching for a method that would enable the snow to gently fall as opposed to simply fall to the ground in record time...

They also sell t-shirts, aprons, candles, berets and lots of other fabulous items. You can find their website here.

I am off to do some work. Enjoy the short week, Leeann x

Easter is on the way...

photo from here

I am not sure about you but I am looking forward to Easter.

Tulips, chocolate and perhaps even some hot cross buns if I get around to making them...the pressure is on as we had some very good hot cross buns whilst we were in New Zealand, but I will try my best!

Have a fabulous week, Leeann x

c'est le printemps....

Today is the official start of Spring or as it is called in French, le printemps.

We are feeling a bit jet lagged from our recent trip to New Zealand and it is an odd feeling coming from summer clothes back to Winter so fingers crossed that it warms up here fast.

so pretty...

Bonjour from a sunny Auckland,

The weather here is fabulous and French Boyfriend is loving the style of houses here.

In our village all of the house walls are made from stone and are quite a contrast to the Victorian wooden houses that you see in Auckland.

Yesterday we spent the day in the charming village of Devonport which has been carefully preserved hence it retains the charm of yester year.

When I was in my 20's I restored an old villa in central Auckland.  It was a fabulous experience and a lot of fun at the time. They are so charming and practical at the same time as the verandas are a great place to rest on a hot summer's day...

This is a short post as we have a lot on today so it is au revoir from me for now. Leeann x

Haute icecream...

photo from here

Rebonjour from sunny Auckland,

Everywhere we look we see icecream. One company that is making a splash here is called giapo and they are known for not only their delicious flavours nut also the way in which they present their icecream is they are a work of art. You can see some photos here.

The one in the photo above is coconut icecream with Otago cherries and it was made for me.

So many flavours and time is ticking as we return to France next week. Maybe they need to open a shop in Bordeaux, may just have to drop them a line.

très bon fin de semaine à tous, Leeann x

no photos please...

Bonjour mes belles,

I am fallen in love with a florist not far from where we are staying and thought that  I would take a couple of photos. Fortunately I had already taken a couple of photos before I was told off for taking photos. The reason that they say no photos as that they have had people copy their floral arrangements. Once I explained that we over on holiday from France hence no risk, the owners was very happy to chat about France and flowers markets in France.

The lillies are fresh from the market and they smelt divine.

Also loved the hydrangeas and they always look fabulous either fresh or fried. The owner of this lovely florist advised that they are always thirsty.

The weather here is hot and sunny so we are planning on going to the beach this afternoon....la vie est vraiment belle ici!

à très bientôt, Leeann x

Bonjour d'Auckland...

For me you do not get much more kiwi than this, say hello or bonjour if you prefer, to the lovely pohutukawa tree.

It is referred to as the New Zealand Christmas tree as it normally flowers around Christmas time but my sister informs me that it is late flowering this year so lucky us.

The weather here is fabulous and just as I remembered. There is nothing quite like a kiwi summer and it is like everyone is busy doing something.

Speaking of which I am about to drag French Boyfriend out for a walk along the beach before dinner...

Hope that you are having a fabulous week-end where ever you are in the world, Leeann x
